This barn is from Schenevus, an old Dutch settlement area in New York State. The footprint of the barn measures 32’ wide x 45’ long and it has tall 24’ side walls which make this an ideal frame for a full two story building. This unusually tall English barn is constructed of sawn hemlock timbers and rafters and was crafted using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. It has a clean, symmetrical design and a steep roof pitch. Volume wise, it’s a very large barn and is framed in such a way as to allow for several different lofted areas.
