Glen King Post Barn

This interesting, king-post design timber frame was built in the Mohawk River Valley of upper New York state, circa 1830. The restored barn has been re-erected outside Dallas, Texas and is now a barn-style two-bedroom home, complete with an open, two-story great room and loft. Using original hand-hewn timbers, Heritage Restorations built an L-shaped addition onto the original frame. This gives the finished home, including the loft, just under 1500 square feet of living space. Steel leg extensions were added to the feet of the wall posts, giving the barn extra head height under the loft. These extensions are wrapped with stone, creating the visual impression of an original, stone foundation pillar.
